Description
Barbra Streisand
One of Barbra Streisand’s biggest hits from the early ’80s, “Guilty” is a seamless, glossy pop meditation, co-written, sung, and produced by the Bee Gees. The band’s stamp is all over the record, and there is little doubt that it would have been a hit from their then-current Spirits Having Flown album. Lyrically, the slightly salty, illicit subject matter is extremely enticing, and gives the song a great, erotic edge. Streisand’s voice, blended with Barry Gibb’s, gives the song a romantic edge that brought it ahead of the game of many other romantic duet records that would follow. The seamless, slightly funky grooves, as well as a great minor-key shift in the sterling bridge, make it one of the most engaging and attractive tracks from the period.
Guilty is the twenty-second studio album by American singer Barbra Streisand released on September 23, 1980 by Columbia Records. It was produced by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees and his group’s regular production team of Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson.
